The Commerce Department was established in 1992, Post Graduate courses like M.Com, D.T.L were introduced in the year 2002-03 and 2013-14 respectively. The department also started Ph.D. and M.Phil. Research Centres in commerce in the year 2012-13 and 2013-14 respectively.

Goals

The department strives hard to inculcate its core values which are good thought, good words and good deeds in the students overall personality to live by these values. Every efforts are made to encourage every student in his or her formative years to take an active part in all activities that help to build up their character and knowledge.

Teaching Methods Adopted

Following teaching methods are adopted by the faculties of Department of Commerce.

Lecture Method:                                                                

In the Commerce stream some subjects are practical, numerical based and problem solving oriented such as Accountancy, mathematic and statistics, Cost and Works Accounting, Auditing and Taxation and some subjects are theory based such as Business Management, Business Communication, Marketing etc. For teaching these subjects lecture method is used. All the teachers of department use this method for effective curriculum delivery.

Demonstration Method:                                                  

Demonstration Method allow students to personally relate to the presented information in subjects like Accountancy, mathematic and statistics, Cost and Works Accounting, Auditing and Taxation. Demonstrations help to raise student interest and reinforce memory retention because they provide connections between facts and real-world applications of those facts.

Classroom discussion:                                                    

A discussion takes place in a classroom which are facilitated by a teacher or by a student hence this method is used for theoretical subjects such as Business Communication, Business Management, Business Administration, Business Entrepreneurship etc.

Experiential Learning:                                                     

University had introduced practical for some subjects like Cost and Works Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, Banking and Finance, Business Communication, Business Administration, Business Entrepreneurship. For fulfilling these practical field trips and Industrial Visits are arranged.

Collabrative method in teaching:                                  

Our Department make MOU with other Institutions which helps the students to get industrial practical and theoretical knowledge. Which helps the students to know the recent trends in Corporate Sectors. It helps to bridge gap between Education and Industry.

Google Classroom (Learning Management System)       

Google classroom facility is used by the faculty. Students are enrolled in the google classroom. Teaching-learning material, PowerPoint presentations are shared through google classroom. Students also share their work through this classroom.

  1. 127 Students participated in ?Commerce Championship- Pune 2018? organized on 1st October 2018 by ICAI, Pune for T.Y.B. Com Students. One of the student Miss. Sneha Borhade got a prize of Rs 2000/-.
  2. With the collaboration with Friends Union for Emergising Lives (FUEL) Agency competitive exam organized for T.Y.B. Com Students on 26th September 2018. 215 students have taken active participation in exam.

C) Participation of the students in seminars/conferences:

5 students participated in the Seminar organized by S.B. Patil Institute of Management, Akurdi, Station, Pune.

D) Special achievement 

Miss. Bhalerao Dhanashree Vijay awarded GOLD MEDALS  for securing highest number of marks and standing first amongst all the successful candidate in “Advanced Accountancy” at B.Com. Examination held at April 2016 and received received following awards:

Management Week

The department of commerce organized Management Week from 04/02/2019 to 08/02/2019.

The resource persons invited to deliver the speech are:

Placement Activity

Dr. S. D. Jagtap and Dr. A.J. Mali are the coordinators of placement cell of commerce department.

The following placement activities were conducted during the year.

  • On 2nd July 2018 Beyonli Services Pvt. Ltd. conducted the drive and 06 students were selected.
  • On 31st July 2018 Avenue Supermart Ltd. (D Mart) conducted the drive and 20 students were selected.
  • On 2nd August 2018 CMA Ashish Deshmukh & Associates conducted the drive and 02 students were selected.
  • On 7th August 2018 Eureka Forbs Ltd. conducted the drive and 04 students were selected.
  • On 8th August 2018 Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. conducted the drive and 06 students were selected.
